WELCOME TO Gunma
Gunma Prefecture is located in middle of Honshu, around 100km from the capital,Tokyo. The southern part of the prefecture opens out onto the Knto Plain and its shape has been compared to a crane flying through the sky with its wings outspread.
The Joetsu and Nagano Shinkansen Lines,both of which start from Tokyo run to Gunma. About 1 hour from Tokyo.
Tomioka Silk Mill World Heritage is the symbol of "Silk Country" Gunma. It was the first model factory in Japan built by the Meiji government in 1872 to modernize raw silk production. The building adopts a unique construction method with wood pillars and brick and plaster walls.
Gunma has many of Japan's best onsen, including the onsen with Japan's highest flow rate,the onsen that was selected as the first in Japan's Top 100 Onsen, the first designated Nationally Certified Onsen, and one of the Three Beautifying Onsen in Japan.
Oze National Park covers Ozegahara. Japn's largest highland marsh, as well as Oze-numa,Ayame-daira, Mount Shibutsu, Mount Hiuchigatake and other distinctive natural habitats.
Oze is exceedingly popular among mountain climbers trekkers and hobbyist photographers for the abundance of alpine plants and beauty of the majestic mountain range. The symbol of Oze is the wooden walkway that stretches over 57 kilometers through the marsh.
If you want to try various vegetables and beef that Gunma prides itself on in one dish, Sukiyaki is unmistakably the best option. Shimonita-negi(leeks) with strong sweetness,chinese cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, shirataki noodles, etc. in the pot-the ingredients that are perfect for sukiyaki are all vegetables proudly harvested in Gunma or are products made here. Then if you add Gunma brand beef, which is considered to be one of the highest quality beefs in the country, it will be delicious for sure. If you use a local soy sauce as the main seasoning, then you have an All-Gunma Sukiyaki dish.
