JAREA Privacy Policy

The Japan Association of Real Estate Appraisers (hereinafter referred to as “JAREA”) respects the privacy of its members and others, and handles the personal data obtained with the following approach.

1. Purpose of Use of Personal Data

The obtained personal data will be used solely for the purposes limited to member management, membership fee collection, appraiser management (e.g., for official land price publication), practical training data management, training history data management, and other purposes listed in sections I.1 to I.3 of the attached "Matters to Be Announced Based on the Act on the Protection of Personal Information."

2. Safety Measures

JAREA will make every effort to securely manage and operate obtained personal data and will exercise reasonable and appropriate management to prevent risks such as leakage, loss, or damage. Furthermore, a personal information protection manager will be appointed to ensure proper management of personal information, and standards for personal information security will be established and thoroughly communicated to all JAREA staff.

Matters to Be Announced in Accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information

The Japan Association of Real Estate Appraisers (hereinafter referred to as "JAREA") hereby announces the following matters in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (hereinafter referred to as "the Act").

I. Purposes of Use of Personal Information (Related to Article 21, Paragraph 1 of the Act)

1. Operations Conducted by This Association

Personal information, excluding specific personal information, held by JAREA, shall be used for the following business operations with the aim of maintaining the dignity and improving the quality of real estate appraisers as well as promoting and developing operations related to real estate appraisal, conducting research and studies, and disseminating related knowledge, thereby contributing to the enhancement of public welfare through the proper formation of real estate prices and promoting further growth and penetration of the real estate appraisal system in the national economy:

  1. Establishment and reinforcement of standards regarding ethics that real estate appraisers must adhere to, and related promotional activities.
  2. Implementation of measures such as hosting training sessions to enhance the qualifications and competencies of members in the field of real estate appraisal.
  3. Conducting practical training for those who have passed the real estate appraiser examination.
  4. Conducting research and studies on the theory and practice of real estate appraisal.
  5. In addition to the above, conducting investigations and studies regarding the real estate appraisal system, the operations of real estate appraisers, and matters related to land prices, and, when necessary, making proposals or responding to inquiries from governmental agencies.
  6. Providing members with necessary support, such as consultations and provision of materials, relating to real estate appraisal services (as defined in Article 3, Paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Act on Real Estate Appraisal, hereinafter the same).
  7. Taking measures contributing to the proper enforcement of real estate appraisal services.
  8. Conducting awareness and publicity activities to enhance public and societal understanding and trust regarding the real estate appraisal system.
  9. Providing consultation and advice relating to disputes concerning real estate and real estate appraisal.
  10. Collecting and organizing materials relating to real estate appraisal.
  11. Investigating land prices on commission from national or local governments.
  12. Conducting other necessary operations to achieve the purposes of the Association.
  13. For the smooth execution of the above operations, undertaking administrative work concerning the guidance, coordination, and supervision of the Real Estate Appraisers’ Association and its members.

2. Purposes of Use

Personal information, excluding specific personal information, held by the Association shall be used for the following purposes in relation to the above-mentioned operations. Please note that if the use of certain personal information is restricted by laws or regulations, such information will be used only for those specific purposes.

  • For sales of publications related to real estate appraisal and related services
  • For distribution of email newsletters to those involved in real estate appraisal services
  • For holding training sessions and symposiums related to real estate appraisal and related services
  • For cooperation with domestic and overseas organizations related to real estate appraisal services
  • For exchanging views with media representatives
  • For providing practical training for those who have passed the real estate appraiser examination
  • For handling, recording, and storage of inquiries, opinions, and complaints received from persons involved with real estate appraisal services (including clients and users)
  • For management of members and membership information
  • For organizing and managing explanatory meetings, lectures, and seminars for the general public
  • For distribution of Association journals and other publications
  • For conducting research related to real estate appraisal and feedback of results, as well as for studies
  • For administrative purposes, sending materials, and information sharing regarding committees and meetings related to real estate appraisal
  • For proposals and requests to competent authorities and for exchanging views and information with related organizations
  • For organizing and managing various events (such as social gatherings) for officers and employees of public interest corporations
  • For processing cancellations of contracts and post-cancellation management
  • For the exercise of rights and fulfillment of obligations under contracts or laws
  • For the smooth operation of work commissioned from other business operators
  • For any other matters necessary for accomplishing the purposes described in item 1 above, including future operations

3. Purpose and Scope of Use of Specific Personal Information

Specific personal information held by the Association shall be used solely for the following purposes and within the stated scope.

(1) Purposes

① Personal number-related administrative tasks concerning officers and employees (including dependents)
  • Preparation of certificates for withholding income tax/retirement income tax
  • Employment insurance notifications
  • Procedures related to claims under the Workers’ Accident Compensation Insurance Act
  • Health insurance and welfare pension insurance notifications
  • Documentation for property formation housing savings and property formation pension savings
  • Notifications for category III insured persons of the national pension
  • Other related procedures
② Personal number-related administrative tasks for individuals other than officers and employees
  • Preparation of payment records for remuneration, fees, etc.
  • Payment records for dividends, surplus distributions, and fund interest
  • Payment records for real estate usage fees, etc.

(2) Scope

  1. Personal numbers and related information (such as names, dates of birth, gender, and addresses) acquired for personal number-related administrative tasks concerning officers, employees, spouses, and dependents
  2. Personal numbers and related information (such as names, dates of birth, gender, and addresses) acquired for personal number-related administrative tasks for individuals other than officers and employees
  3. Various certificates and reports, duplicate copies of such documents, including withholding tax certificates, health insurance and welfare pension insurance insured status reports, notifications of acquisition and loss of insured status, statutory records, and other related documents, prepared for submission to tax offices, public employment security offices, the Japan Pension Service, health insurance associations, labor standards inspection offices, municipal governments, etc.
