WELCOME TO Tokushima

Located in the east part of Shikoku, Tokushima Prefecture borders Kagawa Prefecture to the north, Kochi Prefecture to the south, and Ehime Prefecture to the west. The seat of prefectural government is Tokushima City, which is located at the mouth of the Yoshino River, Shikoku’s longest river that runs from the west to the east of the prefecture. Mountainous terrain makes up 80% of the inland area, including numerous peaks higher than 1,000 meters. Tokushima is blessed with a beautiful sea as well. The area in the south facing the Pacific, dubbed the “Lower Right of Shikoku,” is known as one of Japan’s best surfing spots.

Tokushima offers various tourist attractions that embody its rich history and culture, such as the whirlpools of Naruto, Otsuka Museum of Art,  Awa Dance Festival, Bizan, Iya-no-Kazurabashi , and Udatsu Townscape  of Wakimachi.

Tokushima’s bountiful natural environment makes it one of Japan’s greatest food havens. It boasts various livestock brands, such as Awa beef, Awa-odori chicken, and Awa Tonton pork. Famous specialties include Tokushima ramen, Tarai udon noodles, Naruto sea bream , and Narutokintoki.
